Alternative Cargo Routes from Türkiye to Russia

Alternative Cargo Routes from Türkiye to Russia

Russia, at the heart of the Eurasian landmass, is one of Türkiye’s most important trading partners and a key hub of world trade thanks to its geography and geopolitical position. Road haulage to Russia is intensive: cargo bound for Kazakhstan, China and the Caucasus leaves through the Georgian border and reaches its destination across the Russian transit zone.

Road transport

ASR Transit offers alternative road solutions for cargo moving from Türkiye to Russia and back, serving Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and the rest of the country. Two corridors are in use: the preferred route runs over the Sarp border crossing with Georgia, while the alternative is a Ro-Ro service departing from Karasu (Sakarya) to the port of Novorossiysk and continuing inland from there.

Sea transport

We also provide ocean solutions in both directions between Türkiye and Russia.

Loading ports in Türkiye

  • Ambarlı
  • İzmir
  • İzmit
  • Mersin
  • Samsun

Main port in Russia

  • Novorossiysk

Shipments to several Russian ports continue, but Novorossiysk remains the fastest and most direct gateway from Türkiye. Depending on your cargo and your preference we offer:

  • Combined transport
  • Tanker shipments
  • Ro-Ro shipments
  • Container shipments
  • Import and export moves with LCL and FCL containers
  • Project cargo and customs clearance

Air transport

Choosing air cargo for your trade with Russia brings clear advantages — speed above all. Air freight is far quicker than any other mode and delivers your goods to the consignee in the shortest possible time. It also widens your market: a global air network puts more buyers and more markets within reach.

Air freight is likewise the mode least affected by global disruption. During the pandemic, when many countries closed their borders and restricted road and sea movements, air cargo remained available — and its volumes actually grew.

As an IATA member, ASR Transit is a leading logistics service provider in air freight, with dedicated services designed for customers to whom both time and cost matter. We handle imports and exports to every airport in Russia.

Rail transport

Rail is the mode of choice when safety, heavy-cargo capability, fixed transit times and independence from the weather are decisive.

Because there is no direct land link with Russia, our rail moves run largely over the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars (BTK) line, which reaches Russia, the Central Asian republics and China. In the opposite direction cargo travels smoothly into Europe and as far as the United Kingdom.

Single wagons, block trains, project shipments and intermodal services give you a wide range of options.
