Warehouse and Warehouse Services in Transit Transportation

Our country’s location is on the way to becoming a center in transit transportation due to its ability to use all types of transportation and to do them within the scope of very short distance accessibility. In recent years, many companies in the supply chain have been providing fast, cost-reducing solutions by keeping up with the changing conditions of trade. One of these solutions is transit transportation.

Temporary storage area and warehouse declarations are issued for the cargoes that will come to the Turkish Customs Zone and be exported abroad, either in single batches or in different ways/times and will be combined and consolidated. Currently, warehouses are preferred more frequently due to their advanced technology and facilities.

What are the differences between temporary storage and warehouse?

Temporary Storage: Warehouse, warehouse, where the goods brought to the Turkish Customs Territory and not in free circulation are placed until they are subjected to a customs-approved transaction or use after being presented to the customs, and which are built in a way to protect the goods from all kinds of external factors and interventions, in places where vehicles stop, approach or land. They are defined as places such as warehouses or hangars.

Warehouse: It is defined as open or closed areas where goods under customs supervision or, where permitted, goods in free circulation are kept, provided that they are exported.

According to the data of the Ministry of Commerce, there are a total of 1195 warehouses affiliated with 92 customs directorates in 41 cities in Turkey.
