London-based Dronamics, an unmanned air cargo company, announced that its flagship Black Swan has successfully completed its maiden flight at Bulgaria’s Balchik airport.
Developed by Dronamics, Black Swan can carry 350 kg (770 lb) up to 2,500 km (1,550 miles) up to 80% faster, 50% cheaper and up to 60% less emissions than its class. These long-range drone models make it possible for businesses to ship long distances, including pharmaceuticals, food, e-commerce and spare parts, with same-day delivery.
Dronamics also states that it is the first authorized cargo drone venture in Europe and that IATA has made a global strategic partnership for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Dronamics co-founder and CEO, Svilen Rangelov, said the planes, which are the size of a delivery van, could cross all of Europe in 12 hours. In this way, he stated that they will make air transportation more efficient, affordable and accessible.
With the logistics sector taking a fast action by using unmanned aerial vehicles, changes will be observed in transportation systems and product prices all over the world, including our country. It will not be very fast for this process to affect the transport systems that are more suitable in the first place.
The idea of having more efficient and faster systems in the future offers opportunities for the sector to invest in the right areas.
